Last Minute Gifting Ideas Under $10

I am a massive fan of the holiday season; however, if you are like me, I tend to always procrastinate when buying gifts. With all the festivities and obeisances, this is my favorite time of the year, but time goes by fast. When it comes to buying gifts and such, it is always something that I dread. Not only because it is challenging to pick the best gift for each person on my gift list but also because I always try not to spend too much. Here are some ways that I’ve done and seen in the past to save money when gifting.

Shopping at Off-Price Department Stores:

Something that I always love to do is shop at off-price department stores such as Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. I like to go shopping there year round, but especially during the holiday season, I find a lot of name-brand products that feel like they are clearance prices. For that reason, finding gifts under $10 is much easier.

DIY Gifts:

Even though personally I am not that creative when it comes to crafts and such, some of the best gifts I have gotten were gifts that were not bought but made. This usually revolves around a handmade ornament, a child’s craft, and more. I remember my grandpa especially would give clocks that he worked hard to make for all his grandkids for Christmas. These types of gifts have always been my favorite.

Pictures:

One year, I decided that the best gift to give to my extended family was a framed picture of my family and me. I was able to print a picture of us for such a low price through Walmart, and I was able to get a super nice picture frame at the dollar store. As a result, I was able to give a meaningful gift for under $5. I would see these pictures hung up for years to come a lot of times. Below is a great deal of picture frames that can come in before the holiday.

Baked Goods:

One thing that I remember growing up is always getting a plate of cookies and other goodies from my aunt. Even though the cost is mostly likely higher now, according to a 2021 study by HelloFresh, the average batch of cookies costs $6.10. Even though it might take some time to back a bunch of batches of cookies, by giving a batch of cookies to a friend or family, it’s a super cost-effective way that people love, and it is all under $10!

Family Heirlooms:

I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older that more and more, I’ve been getting items passed down from my grandparents and parents as gifts. This is especially a cost-effective way to give gifts, while also decluttering.
